Christianity is showing explosive growth world-wide.

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44033

"The growing core of Christianity crosses theological lines and includes 707 million born-again people who are increasing by 8 percent a year," he says. So fast is this group growing that, under current trends, according to Rutz, the entire world will be composed of such believers by the year 2032. "There will be pockets of resistance and unforeseen breakthroughs," writes Rutz. "Still, at the rate we're growing now, to be comically precise, there would be more Christians than people by the autumn of 2032, about 8.2 billion."

Atheists self-deluded and against the rope.

Dinesh D'Souza
:

For a number of decades, the atheists had embraced what might be called "the secularization thesis," which maintains that the world is automatically becoming more secular. In other words, they believed that as society becomes more modern, educated, technological, and scientific, it will naturally become less religious. The atheist expectation was that religion is a product of the ignorance of the childhood of man. Interestingly, the world has not met this expectation. As the last century ended, the atheists looked around the world and said, "Wait a minute. The world isn't becoming more secular; it's becoming even more religious." After all, there are revivals occurring in a number of religions, including Hinduism and Islam. And many people don't realize this, but Christianity is actually the fastest growing religion in the world.

The universe misconstrued as "all object" is done. It was actually a minor but significant variation of Westerners, part of a total domination by the ego, the conscious mind.

It never satisfied and is why people resist evolution, even when it comes chock full of evidence.

We are not in the middle of a "thing".

Yeah,  and it got assimilated into the dominate ideology of our politics because "all object" is very permissive.  Nothing then seems to constrain us in our behavior choices - anything goes as long as it served our political or entertainment ends.  I think we're seeing the beginnings of Blow-Back as the people see and feel what a frightful mess society, economics, and politics is in.

I watched an interesting formal debate between D'Souza and atheist spokesperson Hitchens.  D'Souza brought up the metaphysics question - why does matter even follow the "Laws of Nature"  why doesn't matter just do its thing in any old way?  Hitchens had no answer but D'Souza asserted that it is God that constrains matter to follow His design as He chooses.

That is one of the best posts I have ever read here, Phil.

Where did you see the debate? I am going to look on YouTube.

Even if Higher Power were an "impersonal" force, as opposed to a "personal" force, it is still there.

Reason, conscience: are they all subjective, determined from without by local circumstances?

Even the idiots who believe that believe under it all that they possess ultimate truth.

I saw the debate on Google Video:

I found the video while checking into on-line articles about  D'Souza's new book What's So Great About Christianity. It looks like it will be a good read.

Welcome back the the Grove GQ! I'm glad you are here.

I bought a copy of
What's So Great About Christianity last night at Borders.  It looks like a winner, a Soul winner. Dinesh D'Souza answers the questions from atheists and un-believers on their terms head-on.

Well, at least %30 of the adult population here in America is in church on any given Sunday. If you add their kids the percentage probably increases.  We're going to a new, new for us anyhow, church this morning,  I am pretty sure it is neo-pentecostal charismatic.  In any case I am praying that we find good fellowship,  hear some good music, and infilling of the Holy Spirit.

The church we visited today totally ROCKS HARD!  Even the pastor got down jamm'n on the keyboard accompanied by 3 electric guitars and a drummer with a big screen multi-media presentation and lyrics for everyone to sing, clap, and dance along. Then the pastor gave a straightforward but very funny 30 minute sermon on the Holy Spirit with relevant biblical quotes being displayed on the big screen. After sevices we had a cook-out and lots of good fellowship.

It is a miracle, both my wife and daughter agreed they want to go to this church!
Hallelujah.

Sorry, I guess that YouTube is them.

Good for you, Phil.

Does this pastor post his sermons? Would there be any way I could take a look at them or a summary of them?

So that is their post, that YouTube?

I couldn't find any videos of the band playing! Surprising since they have their own TV show.  Small congregation but they sure makes a lot of noise! LOL. The youtube post was just "representative"

There are two basic types of christian rock music played in church.  Praise and Worship.   We started with a couple of Praise songs followed by Worship songs. It gets you out of your head and into your heart.

The important point is not just that atheism is unable to compete with religion in attracting followers, but also that the lifestyle of practical atheism seems to produce listless tribes that cannot even reproduce themselves.
