Yes, I could have just posted what I am about to post under "Economics, Free Trade, Business", but this topic really deserves its own place.

Sovereignty is a word that comes to us derived from Latin, of super, meaning over or above and the word reign which derives from rex, Latin for king, one who reigns.

Our national sovereignty is a  hidden topic, which is subject to a hidden agenda. I say that because most leaders are members of the club that Monty Python called the "club for putting things on top of other things". That is, they are people who operate unconsciously seeking to increase power through simple aggregation of entities.

That tendency has been with us since the first Demonic Males set foot outside of what had been their territory to roam, not even to hunt, but as a way to gain knowledge of and power over potential threats to the established territory.

I see this piling-on and piling-up of markets and so-called [i[trade zones, as one more attempt to expand territory, to possibly increase weatlh, and to create some degree of exaltation, as Mony Python put it, when the club dedicated to putting things on top of other things celebrated its most successful year with "more things put on other things than has ever been done before".

While the expansion of territory may begin with the roaming, wild or done in the context of civilization, by demonic males, this tendency to aggregate territories and economic entities goes way beyond this simple basic behavior.

What we see is a collective agreement, half-consciously worked out, to satisfy the power drive of the elites of the world to satisfy all the members of that elite by creating more territory for all of them.

These elites in their narcissism, their self-satisfaction at being the harbingers and actual owners of this greater degree of power, understand unconsciously that such agreements undermine a people's capacity to demand accountability from their leaders.

The Res-publica, the entity now known as a republic, was the very first abstract governmental agency in the world.

The republic was created by wise and creative Romans as a way to have an agency that could hold the res or things of the public or people.

This way the roads, walls, treasury, temples and such belonged collectively to all the people, a kind of ultimate recognition of what the binding together of the (was it 13?) tribes of the Roman nation-state, represented in Roman statuary and in public displays by the bundled sticks, held together by the fasces or bindings, you see in displays such as this one:

Also you see them on the sides of the throne of this statue of Abraham Lincoln:

This image of binding together serves to remind us of what happens as we get bound together with other nations in such entities as the UN or the WTO or the proposed and denied North American Union.

Look at this denial:

We know that Bush is a mediocrity at best on most issues, but what is his real psychological state when he simply mocks and denies all that patent evidence concerning the attempt to create a North American Union?

Americans are asleep on this.

Most of this derives from being very lacking in autonomy in their own lives, subscribing to memberships in their groups by virtue of being wounded and hazed into a herd identity.

Anti-intellectualism, the pooh-poohing of conspiracy theory in general, knee-jerk thinking and emotional reactions: these are all the result of a lack of personal psychological and spiritual development and the impediments caused by actual wounding, the interjection by force, by compulsion, of certain attitudes and values which become the Sacred Cows, the uncontestable Idols of the personal and group pantheon.

So, this wool gets pulled over the eyes of the Savage-coined and Judge Napolitano- popularized sheeple, and whoever speaks of this problem is considered to be a right-wing loon or a person overly, even neurotically, concerned with his legal rights.

Sloth is the underlying cardinal sin for that fuels and maintains ignorance, and we see a lot of it.

Fear of the loss of membership in good standing in our various groups is the other fear. This one is based on shame, not a cardinal sin, but perhaps we could say vanity and pride were the underlying sins.

So, in summary, I intend to post stuff here relevant to the topic of sovereignty, and personal autonomy. The personal is the source of the drive to realize sovereignty for one's group. We need to talk about that.

Personal autonomy is the state of grace of the person who is truly individual, recognizes the value of that autonomy for himself and his country. That is an ensoulment tantamount to what goes on in the womb at a certain time, and then later in the individual when he comes to find and be subordinate to a center of the psyche outside of the ego.

We told you so

Since the fall of the Soviet Union, hard proof confirms that the Communist Party U.S.A. was active in espionage and clandestine activities. Liberals steadfastly claimed it wasn't true.

What amazes me is that it is far worse than I thought"' Hoover Institution research fellow Arnold Beichman, tells Insight, emphasizing every word. Beichman, author of books such as Anti-American Myths: Their Causes and Consequences, is taking about the amount of espionage and clandestine activity carried out by American members of the Communist Paw in the United States from the time it was founded in 1919 and during the next seven decades. "It's worse than we ever expected -- the extent of it. No one knew."

Now we do, at least to some extent. In 1995 Emory University professor Harvey Klehr, John Earl Haynes of the Library of Congress and Russian archivist Fridrikh Igorevich Firsov published The Secret World of American Communism, a collection of 92 documents that Klehr; a political scientist, accidentally stumbled across on a visit to Russia.

Those 92 documents show beyond a doubt that the perception many Americans had in the 1950s that "American communism was a Soviet weapon in the Cold War" was well-founded and not a fantasy spawned by right-wing paranoia, as many on the left charged. Some of the documents show Communists clandestinely active in the federal government during the 1940s and 1950s, just as Wisconsin Sen. Joseph McCarthy said time and again. And other documents prove that Moscow regularly funded Communist Party activity in the United States.

Additional information about American communism has followed. Early in spring 1998, Klehr and Haynes will publish a second volume of documents and commentary titled The Soviet World of American Communism, Klehr tells Insight, and other volumes will follow covering topics such as the Communist Party's role in mainstream politics in America, the party's relationship to its many intellectual supporters and the activities of American Communists in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War.
New data are beginning to be gleaned, too, from the more than 2,000 so-called Venona intercepts (see sidebar), long held secret by the National Security Agency but recently declassified and made available to the public.

And investigators have been at work on other aspects of American Communist activity. Reporter Michael Chapman, writing this summer in the weekly conservative tabloid Human Events, outlined the Communist Party connections of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the "father of the atomic bomb." Chapman plans to turn the story into a book about the man who directed the Los Alamos Laboratory during World War II and later was chief adviser to the Atomic Energy Commission.

Among other discoveries, in June Chapman came across a photograph of Oppenheimer in an exhibit at the KGB museum in Moscow. The subject of the exhibit? Soviet memorabilia on "leading atomic espionage agents and espionage documents." Oppenheimer's image was displayed by KGB historians along with a photograph of another nuclear physicist, convicted Communist spy Klaus Fuchs, and a shot of a Manhattan Project laboratory site.

Thanks to the work of Klehr, Haynes, Chapman and others, it is clear that American Communists maintained a secret underground organization, a fact long denied by many historians of communism in America. It also is clear that American Communists actively assisted Soviet intelligence efforts in the United States and elsewhere, another fact long denied by many historians. And it is more clear than ever that Josef Stalin had his obedient American admirers.

Even with so much information now readily available, investigators such as Klehr tell Insight that what has come to light in recent years is "only the tip of the iceberg," and much, much more is to come.

The revelations are all the more surprising because of Communist secrecy and the desire of many party members to remain unknown. Whittaker Chambers, the former Communist Party member, wrote in his book Witness of the need to learn the truth about Communist activity: "Those who insist plaintively on evidence against a force whose first concern is that there shall be no evidence against it, must draw what inferences they please."

In Witness, Chambers warned against another aspect of American communism -- the protection it received from the "best" of society: academics, intellectuals, journalists and sundry others. "The forces of enlightenment" continually are at work "pooh-poohing the communist danger and calling every allusion to it a witch-hunt," wrote Chambers, who was himself the brunt of much left-wing mudslinging.

The standard myth about the American Communist Party, perpetrated by revisionist historians and much of the media, is that its members over-whelmingly were idealistic men and women who sought justice and an end to human suffering. The truth is otherwise. The Communist Party, USA, or CPUSA, had a sizable cadre of members whose chief loyalty was to the Soviet Union and its leadership and who acted according to those loyalties. As the Hoover Institution's Beichman notes: "We ultra-right, fascist and everything-else-they-called-us scoundrels were more right than anybody else."
