We had a great time in my old haunt Anna Maria Island, Florida. No crowds, gorgeous warm water teaming with fish.
The place looks almost the same as it did 40 years ago. The island is very strict. No high rises. Mostly cottages, bungalows, and private homes. All beaches are open to the public.

I like that "all beaches are open to the public". I remember as a kid when my father informed me that there were private beaches and such. I felt that violated something.

The beach is rejuvinative and depending on how picky you are about the digs you stay in it is inexpensive too. I'm not sure I believe in ley-lines and vortexes of healing magnetic and electric fields but the beach - especially the west coast of Florida - is supposed to have a concentration of magnetic vortexes. I had a couple of vivid dreams while there.
Work is well... work. Starting to get fun again though because there has been a tectonic shift and now I've got the ear and firepower of the corporate directors. The project is almost finished and so I will have to find new work in a month or two.

We booked our tickets to go to the People's Republic of China at the end of October. Woo Hoo! I can't find my passport! Ach! Lost passport red-tape.: Homeland Security will probably send me to Syria for rendering first. The Chinese Embassy has changed the visa rules too. They don't process visa applications by mail anymore. You or your representative have to submit the application in person! I guess the Olympics overwhelmed their in-box. We're jazzed anyhow although I still can not order a predictable meal in a restaurant there.
