I had heard about it a while ago, and expected it to be at least ok. I don't like her flip-flop from conservative to liberal pundit, but I would have to say that her flip-flop is completely indicative of how easy the complex can be shifted from one excess to the other.
Then I read what a flop the site is. I went there by way of some link or other.
I don't get the "failure". Even this is indicative of the degree of pure prejudice of commentators in the media and a love of doing hatchet jobs.
It may have been that some names were thrown out there purely to raise money, and then they resented being used.
But the site is good.
Here is the link to the blogs. I particularly liked the blog of Maher, being about bio-diesel which is one of the few ways we have the solve many of the major aspects of the energy problem in that in one fell swoop it could help with the environmental and economic aspects while only being a minor challenge in terms of technology.
Here is the link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/featuredposts.html#a000419
Here is an excerpt:
Joining Bush on the biodiesel bandwagon is a man who’s successfully tested some of the world’s most powerful substances: Mr. Willie Nelson. Willie’s tour buses are fueled by biodiesel, and he’s created his own biodiesel product, Bio Willie, which he’s currently distributing to truck stops. Biodiesel is now sold at over 300 service stations across the country, a figure that’s growing rapidly-44 million barrels of biodiesel will be sold this year, compared to about half a million barrels just five years ago.
Very impressive this use of Bio-diesel by Willie Nelson.

| Pretty cool. Detroit needs to get busy making "I'll burn anything" engines. Gasohol will be ramping up as soon as investors see that it'll pay off. Lots of designs for humongous alcohol production plants just waiting for the price of oil to hit the sweet spot. Corn power! Corn oil for the desiel engines and corn starch fermented and distilled for gasohol. The cellulose can be specially fermented to produce methane. Last edited on Tue May 10th, 2005 09:05 pm by *Phil*

Bill Maher, what a complete asshole. I will try to overlook the fact that he is the one talking about the worthy bio diesel thing.Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in awhile. Sorry, it's that stupid I'm smarter-than-you-smirk that I find just offensive. I want to punch his greasy, hoe-lovin' face into pulp.
Well, Arriana's got to make a living somehow I guess. Her views are all over the place. One minute she talks like a libertarian, the next like a Marxist, the next like an idiot. She is not a good poster child for "potential female candidates for president". One might understand why her husband turned gay. I am often embarrassed for her due to her oddly addle-brained sense of humor or irony that leaves most people wondering what the Hell she is talking about. And that Zsa-Zsa voice. How can one take anyone who talks like that seriously?
By the way, Detroit has it's own problems. Did anyone know that the city of Detroit is so broke (how broke are they?) that they have had to fire ten percent of the city workforce, and are proposing a fast-food tax on Big Macs to increase needed revenue? That is no lie.
That is an example of a city that needs rebuilding from the ground up. The best thing that could happen to that town is a volcano that forces complete evacuation and rebuilding from scratch.

Love your post, Psycho Gizmo. This forum's host is too dedicated at times to being a "nice guy".
But I have to tell you that one of my not-so-secret, but nonetheless overlooked secret weapons is that I pay attention to and admit to the winning points of "the oppositon".
The only way to get Bush and the Repubes to do anything at all constructive about bio-diesel and the border is to have the likes of Hillary and Kerry touting the merits of the Border Patrol and people Maher about bio-diesel.
And I have to tell you that Maher gets on my nerves big time. It is the attitude, indeed. He is the classic smart ass and you can well understand why he got the merde beaten out of him in the schoolyard one day.
But at this point you can't count on either party to do stuff that should be right up their alley.
The Demonios won't protect the jobs base, and the Repubes won't protect the borders.
Hell, you can't even get the Repubes to vote on eliminating the filibuster in the senate.
What exactly either party is good for is a good question way too often.

"The Big Three Killed My Baby"
The big three killed my baby
no money in my hand again
the big three killed my baby
nobody's coming home again
Their ideas made me want to spit
a hundred dollars goes down the pit
30,000 wheels are rollin'
and my stick shift hands are swollen
everything involved is shady
the big three killed my baby
The big three killed my baby
no money in my hand again
the big three killed my baby
nobody's coming home again
Why dont you take the day off and try to repair
a billion others dont seem to care
better ideas are stuck in the mud
the motors runnin' on tuckers blood
dont let them tell you the future's electric
cause gasolines not measured in metric
30,000 wheels are spinnin'
and oil company faces are grinnin'
now my hands are turnin' red
and i found out my baby is dead
The big three killed my baby
no money in my hand again
the big three killed my baby
nobody's coming home again
Well i've said it now, nothings changed
people are burnin for pocket change
and creative minds are lazy
and the big three killed my baby
And my baby's my common sense
so dont feed me planned obsolescence
yeah my baby's my common sense
so dont feed my planned obsolescence
im about to have another blowout
im about to have another blowout -White Stripes
Oh here I go again . . . White Stripes are a Detroit based band, Jack has his finger on the pulse.
