Jesus dolls rejected from Toys for Tots program
Bible-quoting toymaker surprised its offer of 4,000 dolls was turned down
LOS ANGELES - A company that sells Bible-quoting Jesus dolls said it was surprised and disappointed that the Marine Reserves’ Toys for Tots program turned down its offer to donate 4,000 of the talking dolls.
“I believe as a churchgoing person, anyone can benefit from hearing the words of the Bible,” said Michael La Roe, director of business development for Valencia-based Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Co. and its one2believe division, which makes the line of Bible character dolls.
Bill Grein, vice president of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, in Quantico, Va., said the offer was turned down because Toys for Tots doesn’t know anything about the religious affiliations of the children who receive its gifts.
“We can’t take a chance on sending a talking Jesus doll to a Jewish family or a Muslim family,” Grein said Tuesday. “Kids want a gift for the holiday season that is fun.”
According to one2believe’s Web site, the button-activated, bearded Jesus doll recites Scripture such as “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Toys for Tots distributed 18 million stuffed animals, games, toy trucks and other gifts to children based on financial need in 2005.
First off it is a Christian holiday.
Secondly Muslims and Jews both recognize Jesus as a great prophet. So who would be offended? Hmmm?

What parent in their right mind would give that book to their teenage daughter? This is unspeakably bad. WalMart really screwed up bad on that one! I noticed they have removed it from their on-line catalog. Like WalMart or hate them, WalMart is a very socially and politically aware company - They've told their greeters to say "Merry Christmas" instead of the neutral "Happy Holidays" because they know what Americans want.

I am going to sound like a lib, but having worked as a lowly nobody for companie, you need unions, and having an employer with its employees negotiate heath services together saves everybody money.
Also I learned that I needed a union just to keep myself from getting shit on constantly by mini-dictators with no frigging sense.
THAT BOOK IS AWFUL.
What the hell is that about? How is it that the press doesn't go to the source, the authors and publishers and find out the all-too-apparent what-is-what of this book?
About Al-Jazeera: their attempt to penetrate us will have some success. I say though that we will also penetrate them in the conjunction.
Aping our way of life, aping reason and reasonableness, getting educated, getting exposed to other religions- at some point some of them will succumb to us, rather than the other way around.
But, as CW has pointed out, the attitudes run deep within the individual who is raised in Islam.
What is amazing is that of late more and more "moderates" and semi-conservatives such as O'Reilly and even CNN in showing "Obsession", have shifted their point of view about Islam's ability to live side-by-side with the rest of us in the modern world.
FOX is going to show something about Christianity and Egypt, how Christians are being persecuted there now. It is part of a continuing series.

Sooner or later EVERYONE is going to have to face the fact that Islam is poison and be honest and say it loud and clear. AND people are going to have to understand the basic concepts of it as well. IF WE WANT TO SURVIVE.
