Ok so something that's kind of typical in my family is hair = acne problems. For this reason I normally do not wear a beard but being that it was summer I felt I could get away with it. I really like having it. It's got a real nice color and look to it that compliments the hair cut I adorn.
However as of the last couple of days I have begun getting acne in and around the beard. I am tempted to cut it off but it will be like losing a good 4 years on the surface (people actually started saying I look 19!). It really sucks when your hitting on a girl at a party and she asks you if your old enough to drink.

| On the few occasions when I have grown a beard, I discovered that special cleaning of the skin beneath is necessary. The dead skin-cells that would normally be washed clean by scrubbing the sur-face (and daily shaving) accumulates build-up when the hair covers it. Therefore, special cleaning (scrubbing under the beard) is necessary to remove this buildup. I would imagine that a long-tipped brush or similar "massage" type grooming device would facilitate this process of removal of underlying skin-cell build-up and reduce the tendancy for pores to clog and produce blemishes.

Avoid fatty, greasy foods.
Keep the beard and shave the girl.

Vitamin A or Beta-Carotene ?
Any difference concerning skin health and acne?

Vitamin A in dry form. With beta-carotene, you don't know if the conversion has been made to Vit A.
If you buy the oil form, you run the risk of rancidity. So, water-dispersed Vit A with a dose such as 25 mg of zinc to get the Vit A out of the liver.
Without the zinc, you may have a ton of A in your liver and not enough in your bloodstream.
When I began to take Vit A with zinc, my skin had already lost its youthful smoothness. Within weeks, I had it back and the woman I was dating at the time got hers back as well, patch by patch.
