I noticed that I had an opportunity to post this on two separate threads and it hit me that it was time to post the work itself. A worthy text if ever there was one assembled by man or beast. The Druid Way by Philip Carr Gomm. I fear it will be our epitaph - that we realized the truth too late and She died for lack of caring.

"When we started to believe that our bodies and souls were separate, and that our bodies were 'dirty', we began the process of the glorification of mind, science and the desecration of the Earth. Since our bodies were 'vile' so too was the body of our home, the Earth, (mother/mater/ matter).
We exploited the Earth, it's plants, animals, as we exploited women, who have always been closer to the natural, the instinctual. The chalice of the land became separated from the sword of the will/intellect and the sword became a weapon of destruction. The Goddess was forced to hide, but we hunted her down.
We burned women by the millions in the counter-reformation of Europe, perhaps as many as four million women were burned at the stake. We and our Earth are in pain because we have denied Her for too long. The power of the land has retreated into caves/hills, and is guarded by the dragons - which we have also tried to kill. The Earth has become a wasteland because our swords have sought not union, but conquest. In an extraordinary, vicious cycle, the more we have denied Her, the more She has hidden, and the more she hides, the more we rage. Because deep down , we seek not conquest of her, but union with Her.
Now one may understand why Man seems in a peculiar way, to want to destroy the Earth. We know of the strange urge to destroy the father that Freud called the 'Oedipus Complex'- but the deeper layer of destructiveness, that we are only now about to recognize, is our collective urge to destroy our mother - the Earth Herself.
She has been denied to us for so long that we, as her children, are trying to tear her apart in our desperation to return to Her embrace. Only those men who are mad act overtly with their creative staff of life turned to the purposes of destruction and hatred by their failure to unite with their opposite. They are the rapists, the sadists, the sexual offenders of our world.
For most men, the failure to achieve union with the feminine and the destructiveness that this engenders is transferred from the genital to the cortical level (italics mine-PG). The pain of separateness, the pain of not being held travels like a saddened, evil impulse paralyzing the heart as it travels towards the brain....Man, like a wild beast, travels the wasteland of his making, his phallus wild with rage for the goddess who is denied him. He plunges his weapon to the left and to the right of him, slaying and maiming with a lust for destruction that makes the blessing of his creative organ a curse that ravages the Earth. His seeds, destined to populate the earth with beings, plants and creatures, now weigh so heavily in his grain sacks, that he begets monsters who in their turn, rape and destroy their mothers, brothers and sisters.....They have become not Oedipus the father-slayer, but Orestes, the slayer of the Mother".
