The problem is not that Europeans are decreasing as a percentage of the population but that they are sick cultures not even capable of reproducing themselves.
What is wrong with this picture?
Why should the most rational and educated people in the world with the best social security blanket, medical, educational, and so on, be without kids?

Canada's problems of low salaries means that something is not right.
I appreciate the attempt to 'connect the dots', but though you make some valid observations about taxes and services,etc., I remain unconvinced. Maybe I can respond in detail when I have a clearer mind for "economics." For now, I will 'ponder' your scenario.
In any case -- cheer up, as far as Canada is concerned. Looks like the Conservative Party will not only win the election next Monday (23rd), but may even get a majority. We may be gleefully building sites for your missile defence program, helping to invade Iran, buying new transport planes and other stuff for the military, and "getting tough" with crime . . . all kinds of good stuff. Oh yeah . . . and quite possibly go back to the budgetary deficits quite popular not so long ago. If so, it'll be interesting to see if our dollar starts to reverse its dramatic rise over the last two years, so we can pay even more for the U.S. goods manufactured from our raw materials.

Roy, I was browsing the CBC website and came across this radio clip from 1993, about the differences in attitude between the boomers and Gen-X'ers. It's a little dated, perhaps, and deals in generalities, of course, . . . but I think it's good, and backs up your 'connect the dots' quite well. In fact, well enough that it felt rather synchronistic to hear this clip just now.

Thanks, and I am about to listen to it, but it seems to me that I actually agree with the criticisms of Boomers.
Actually, the reason I call some male posters, "Meatheads", is that they are just like the character in "All in the Family".
They are basically mirror-images of "Archie", the bigoted and irritable but loving patriarch of the Bunker household. They have a complex about their fathers' complex and that is because they have a lot of the same complexes that they protest in their patriarchs.
Meathead, the quintessential Boomer, is selfish, more so in some ways than Archie.
For example, he lives for free in the Bunker household as he goes to school, dependent on Archie's money, but invites his draft-dodging friend to Christmas dinner who has sneaked back in from Canada.
Why do this while you free-load? And, if you invite him to dinner, TELL HIM TO SHUT UP ABOUT HIS ANTI-WAR VIEWS WHILE HE IS A GUEST IN ARCHIE'S HOUSE.
This doesn't even occur to Meathead.
Also Meathead suffers from political correctness syndrome, a mental disease that occurs when you feel guilty about your own half-acknowledged prejudices of race and sex and class while going about combatting it in "others".
Projection pure and simple. Or maybe I should say projection pure and very, very complicated for an idiot.
I have seen the Boomer selfish side and I have seen it in my parents' generation as well.
My father's neigbor told me that we Boomers have had it a lot harder than his generation had it.
I was shocked to see the acknowledgement.
Getting the bad end of the stick of life has let me see what is going on with the younger generations quite clearly, at least in economic terms.
Much of the friction between the sexes began with the older Boomers. Talking to younger men, I see that it has increased.
I laugh at some of it, though. White women in the Bay Area are angry at being abandoned by the white heterosexual men for Asian women.

That is a myth about all the jobs for the Boomers. The 70s didn't have jobs in a lot of areas.
The Boomer talking is a self-indulgent, let's say, half an asshole. He really has the Boomers on a pedestal.
The living at home began in the seventies as well.
This is actually about the negative result of so-called "free trade".

Narcissists talking about narcissists. Who has a frigging yacht? Oh, and you as in the interviewee (not you, Khepri) are so superior to the Boomers?
Most of the working poor of today are Boomers or were until a few years ago.
These are the sons of the successful Boomers being "Meatheads" to the patriarch.
That young person is a real ass.
