This is the third age of Joachim di Fiore, the monk who propounded the idea that the Age of the Father was succeeded by the Age of the Son, to be succeeded, beginning in his time, by the Age of the Spirit, where we would have direct contact with the Spirit.
I have a whole set of coincidences about this. I will write about them when I get back from work.

I finally got around to watching the whole video. Very good.
Gurdjeiff and Ouspensky talk about various times in history when groups had such experiences, when prayers that seem to have little effect now had an amazing effect.
What I see is that the population of that ares, a rural area, by the way, not a city, all reached a certain spiritual plateau at about the same time. That is what allowed this experience.
The negative secular rationalist explanation is that a similar kind of hysteria was reached in a population of similars.
Personally, I opt for the first explanation.
Even the Transcendentalists in 19th century US had a group that had these experiences together.
The Quaker meeting is supposed to generate that as well.

It began with a couple of old ladies lamenting that the church had no young people. So they set about to pray every night. Now these aren't the sort of prayers we typically think of that lasts maybe a couple of minutes. These prayers go on for hours and have quite some emotional content. Then they got the church elder men to pray fervently like this also. One night, the old women praying in their cottage, and the men were in a barn praying when suddenly the Holy Spirit descened and literaly there was an earth tremor. Thus it began. People would wake up in the night feeling convicted and would go out side finding more people feeling the same spiritual urgency and they would head to church in groups.
Now I believe Jung would say this is a synchronicity occurring from the collective unconscious of the masses spread across a geographic region. An Alchemist might say it was Mercurius or Hermes communicating the message among all minds.

I am pretty sure it was the Church of Scotland since the minister of the parish where the prayer was held sent his report of the events to that church's headquarters.

My bad, I got the Wales revival mixed up with the Scotland Hebrides revival. The Hebrides Lewis revival happened in 1949, the Wales revival was in 1904 and very huge event too - but no audio recording of witnesses.

There were some Methodists present also. Regional Revivals fueled by the Holy Ghost draw in everyone regardless of Christian sect.
Roy mentioned earlier in this thread that the 12th century monk Joachim di Fiore prophesied the Age of the Spirit had begun and all believers can have direct contact with the Holy Ghost. Fiore saw a temporal unfolding of the Trinity - first there was the Age of the Father, then the Age of the Son, and now the Age of the Holy Spirit.
